Water vapor transfer rate (MVTR): refers to how much water vapor can be transferred per square meter of fabric every 24 hours. The permeability index of polyurethane (PU) coated fabric, taking TNF HYVENTDT fabric as an example, is generally indicated at 700g/㎡/24h.
The goal of waterproofing is not to measure how much water can be prevented, but to measure how much water pressure can be accepted. The definition of waterproofing should be: waterproofing is only when it can accept high water pressure for a long time without water seepage. Good expanded PTFE WBW fabric can accept 28m-45m of water pressure, that is, 28000mmHg-45000mmHg of water pressure. When we are doing outdoor activities, the water pressure generated by some actions is: when sitting, the water pressure on the buttocks is 2-3 meters; when kneeling, the water pressure on the knees is 3-9 meters; when backpacking, the water pressure on the shoulders is 6-14 meters.
